Why is there citric acid in Re-Lyte products?

Citric acid is a healthy, natural preservative. It also has a pleasant, tangy taste and can help your body absorb minerals better.

We included citric acid in many of our Re-Lyte products because it's one of the best natural preservatives around. It also has a tangy flavor that adds something special to Re-Lyte's taste.

In addition to these two practical benefits, citric acid has an interesting health benefit (especially when it comes to Re-Lyte)— it helps your body absorb minerals better. Research shows that citric acid improves your gut's ability to absorb calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc.

As you may know, most of our Re-Lyte products are a healthy source of calcium and magnesium, among other essential minerals. And the coconut water powder in many of our Re-Lyte products contains trace amounts of phosphorus and zinc as well. So the citric acid in Re-Lyte could help you get more nutrients from each sip.

Like all the ingredients in Redmond Life products, we only source high-quality citric acid from natural sources. The citric acid we use comes from fermented cassava and is kosher-certified, halal-certified, and Non-GMO Project Verified. It is purified after the fermenting process and then tested for possible contaminants, including yeast and mold. Learn more here.
