Cumin has a rich, earthy, slightly spicy flavor that’s a great addition to a variety of dishes.
If you love a curry dish, taco, or bowl of chili from time to time, chances are you’re a fan of the warm, fragrant flavor of cumin. It’s an important addition to curries (and other Indian dishes), Mexican cuisine, South American cuisine, and, in our humble opinion, the best chili recipes.
Cumin comes from the Cuminum cyminum plant, which is actually a member of the parsley family. You can purchase cumin seeds in their whole form or ground into powder. We’ve included cumin in some of our organic seasonings because it has a distinctive flavor that adds a traditional, authentic taste to our Mexican-inspired blends.
Cumin contains antioxidants that lend it some noteworthy health benefits. If you’re interested in the health benefits of cumin, you should know that ground cumin is easier for your body to absorb and benefit from than whole cumin seeds.
We take great care in sourcing organic spices from companies that adhere to strict USDA federal regulations for organic food-grade products, and that includes our cumin. The cumin we use is also GMO-free and kosher-certified.
