Why does Re-Lyte Electrolyte Mix include citric acid?

What does non-GMO citric acid contribute to Re-Lyte?

Citric acid is an organic acid found in citrus fruit – and one of the most common inactive ingredients in food and beverages around the world. It is a natural preservative that lends a refreshing tart flavor to Mixed Berry and Lemon Lime recipes.

Re-Lyte Unflavored doesn’t contain any citric acid.

Only non-GMO Anhydrous Citric Acid

We use citric acid that has been certified "NOT genetically modified or NOT derived from genetically modified organisms."  In plain language, that means the fruit we get citric acid from have not been genetically modified.  (If you're feeling curious, the relevant definitions can be found by googling Article 2 and 9 of EC Regulation No. 1830/2003.)

Wondering about the word "anhydrous"?

It means our pure citric acid was crystalized from hot water instead of cold, which leaves us powder that mixes more easily when you're mixing up your daily Re-Lyte drink.
