What does the potassium in Re-Lyte Boost do?

Potassium is an essential electrolyte that can help protect you from a wide range of issues, including fatigue.

Re-Lyte Boost contains our Re-Lyte Electrolyte Mix, which includes the essential electrolyte potassium. Potassium performs some pretty important jobs for your body. It supports nerve function, promotes muscle contraction, and helps you maintain a healthy heartbeat

Potassium is one of several electrolytes you lose in your sweat, so it’s important to replenish it regularly if you’re active. If you don’t and your potassium levels get too low, you could experience symptoms like muscle cramps, muscle weakness, abnormal heart rhythms, and kidney problems. However, the first signs of a potassium deficiency are usually weakness and fatigue.

That may be because dehydration (which is caused by not getting enough water and electrolytes, including potassium) is a big factor in fatigue. One research study found that women who were just one percent below optimal hydration levels felt fatigued and unfocused. And another study found that young men who became mildly dehydrated after exercising felt more fatigue and had worse cognitive function.

Some of the potassium in Re-Lyte occurs naturally in our unrefined, ancient sea salt Real Salt. But we also add a form of potassium called potassium citrate in Re-Lyte.

There are a few important benefits to potassium citrate over other forms of potassium. It’s one of the most easily absorbed forms of potassium, for example, and metabolizes quickly in the body. The potassium citrate we currently use in Re-Lyte Electrolyte Mix is sourced internationally and is made following Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMPs) guidelines that ensure its identity, strength, quality, and purity.
