Organic coriander brings a warm, citrusy flavor to Real Salt Organic Seasonings.
Coriander is derived from the little round seeds of the coriander plant, or Coriandrum Sativum, which is an annual herb belonging to the Apiaceae family. Surprisingly, the coriander plant also produces the common ingredient cilantro— cilantro hailing from the leaves and stems of the plant, rather than the seeds. The two could not be more different in taste!
When ground or whole, coriander seeds produce a deep and intense flavor. It’s quite fragrant, and many sources note it’s floral or even lemony notes. When we think coriander we think curries, soups, and fresh-made salsa! We use ground coriander in our Organic Seasonings for the earthy balance it brings to its sister ingredients. Coriander is also known for a variety of health benefits due to its high antioxidant content.
We take great care in sourcing organic spices from companies that adhere to strict USDA federal regulations for organic food-grade products, and that includes our ground coriander. The coriander we use is also non-GMO and kosher certified.
